Placement Test with 5 different handguns Bend of the River Training - Waco TX

This is a short video of a Handgun Placement Test, that I believe was originally created by John "Shrek" McPhee. The placement test is from 3 yards, drawing from the holster and placing 3 rounds in a 3" circle within 3 seconds. I apologize up front for not wearing ballistic glasses, that is totally my fault and please know eye and ear protection are important for your safety. The unique thing about this video is that I am using different Handguns for the Placement Test. My theory on this is that if your fundamentals are correct, Stance, Index, Grip, Sight Alignment and Pressing out of the Handgun, it should not really matter what you are shooting. You likely have a favorite Handgun, but if you are fundamentally sound, you should be able to complete the Placement Test with any Handgun that is familiar to you. I used Handguns with a Red Dot sight (Trijicon SRO, Sig Romeo Zero) and iron sights. The Handguns are all 9mm: Springfield Armory EMP 4 CC, Staccato C Carry, Sig 365, Glock 48 and Glock 19. You can see the shot time display and also the round impact on the top left 3" shoot-n-see targets to verify the time and accuracy. I have to give a lot of credit to John at SOB Tactical as his instruction, training, video diagnostics really helped me become a better more confident shooter. Thanks Ken

    3 , 4 and 5. (X2) Placement Test

This is a Handgun Placement Test at 3 different distances (3, 4 and 5 yards) from the draw, shooting at a 3" circle and firing 3 shots in 3 seconds or less. If you shoot the 3 distances clean, you then shoot again at 5 yards. John Shrek McPhee from SOB Tactical designed the 3, 4, 5 (x2) Drill to take the standard 3 yard Placement Test Drill to a more challenging level.

    3 step Carbine drill

From 7 yards, with the rifle at the low ready, load a magazine with 1 round. At the sound of the buzzer fire 1 round, then do a reload from slide-lock and fire 1 more round. Target is a 3" circle and the goal is to complete the drill in under 3 seconds with both rounds in the circle.

    Remote controlled target turning system

We are working with our new remote controlled target turning system. It allows the shooter to set specific target presentation times and work on target recognition, speed and accuracy.
